What's in the Economic Partnership Agreement for me?

Any business person who raises the question as to what is in the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) for him or her raises a legitimate question. While politics might underpin the negotiation of many a trade agreement when the dust settles the issue still remains as to whether the agreement puts Caribbean and Barbados service providers in a better position to export their goods and services?

Arguably the EPA brings better access for the temporary movement of business people from the Caribbean into EU states. Short Term business facilitation in provided in the agreement for areas such as reseach, attending trade fairs. There are also improved conditions for both individuals that are employed by a firm and for self-employed persons that have no presence in the EU state.

One of the areas that would be of interest to those in the film industry is the possibility of co-production that would allow local film makers access to EU funding if they entered into an agreement with an EU party.

It should be noted that no country allows for the negotiation of entry without making an exception for the application of immigration rules. This is also the case within CARICOM States. Thus it is still necessary to get Visas to visit the country where this is appropriate.
